José Martínez Escanaverino, Scientific Director at ABS, has been awarded the prestigious annual publication award by AGMA. He received this honor during the Fall Technical Meeting (FTM), held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. This recognition highlighted his essential role in the development and publication of the ANSI/AGMA 6008-B24, Specifications for Powder Metallurgy Gears.

This standard provides comprehensive guidelines for the design, processing, and technical specifications of powder metallurgy (PM) gears, which must be agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser. It covers various aspects, including the definition of terms, gear tooth geometry considerations, inspection recommendations, PM gear material selection, drawing specifications, heat treatment, and mechanical testing.

During the award ceremony, AGMA and its Technical Division of Standards (TDEC) emphasized the importance of technical knowledge and standards in advancing gear technology, recognizing the dedication and effort of all committee members involved in the standard’s development.

Throughout his career, Professor M. Escanaverino has balanced his teaching and scientific work with a significant role as a technical pillar and reference at ABS, contributing to over 400 projects in the past ten years. His commitment to improving the industry is evident in his active participation in committees, working groups, and scientific publications within leading institutions and associations.

Specializing in systems engineering, his contributions have had a profound impact on companies, universities, and organizations in Cuba—his country of origin—as well as in Venezuela, Brazil, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, and the United States. In 2021, he was awarded Senior Membership in the prestigious IEEE, a recognition granted to only 10% of its members since the organization’s founding in 1963.

At Atlantic Bearing Services, we congratulate him and are deeply proud of this new distinction, especially as it comes from such a respected and esteemed association as AGMA, in a year as significant as our company’s 25th anniversary. This award undoubtedly inspires us to continue strengthening our prestige and technical credibility across all the industrial sectors in which we operate.
