José Martínez Escanaverino, Scientific Director at ABS, has been awarded the prestigious annual publication award by AGMA. He will receive the award during the upcoming Fall Technical Meeting (FTM), which will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Hyatt Rosemont Chicago/O’Hare.

Both the AGMA Technical Division and former Chairman of the Powder Metallurgy Committee, Paul Crawford, have recognized and appreciated Escanaverino’s efforts in developing the ANSI/AGMA 6008-B24 standard, “Specifications for Powder Metallurgy Gears,” congratulating him on its successful publication.

This standard provides comprehensive details for the design, processing, and technical specifications of powder metallurgy (PM) steel gears, which must be agreed upon between the supplier and purchaser. The aspects covered include the definition of terms, gear tooth geometry considerations, inspection recommendations, PM gear material selection, drawing specifications, heat treatment, and mechanical testing.

Throughout his career, Professor M. Escanaverino has combined his academic and scientific work with a significant role as a technical pillar and reference point at ABS, participating in over 400 projects over the past ten years. His personal commitment to improving our industry is evident through his active involvement in committees, working groups, and scientific publications in leading institutions and associations.

Specializing in systems engineering, his contributions have had a profound impact on companies, universities and organizations in Cuba—his country of origin—Venezuela, Brazil, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, and the United States. In 2021, he was honored with Senior Membership in the prestigious IEEE Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a recognition awarded to only 10% of its members since the organization’s founding in 1963.

At ABS, we congratulate him and feel deeply proud of this new recognition, especially as it comes from such a relevant and esteemed association as AGMA, in a year that marks the 25th anniversary of our company. This award encourages us to continue strengthening our reputation and technical credibility across all the industrial sectors in which we operate.
